ABOUT THE ROLE
The position of OCS Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing technical aspects of one or more projects in the OCMS works program in conjunction with the OCMS Project Manager and the OCMS Project Engineer.
The incumbent will support the OCMS Project Manager by undertaking specific elements or work packages undertaken by the State, Metro Trains (as the franchisee) or Third Parties (within the Metro Trains lease), ensuring they are designed, reviewed and delivered in compliance with the technical standards of Metro Trains and the functional operating requirements of the business.
You will provide specialist technical advice on the OCS Electrical assets, including asset upgrade, integration, new technology and interfaces with other third-party projects, signalling and OCS systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting and leading electrical asset technical audits, and facilitating the recording of details critical data and associated attributes of Metro-wide electrical assets
- Reviewing and verifying vendor supplied scope and technical documents against existing Metro requirements system Functional and Performance Specifications and requirements to ensure compliance and completeness
- Identifying and updating technical risk factors and mitigation strategies and treatment plans
- Ensuring all planned installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps
- Lead and contributes to Project Technical design reviews, approvals and works in the delivery of the Project changes to successful design, implementation, testing and commissioning
- Assist the OCMS Project Manager in developing and managing plans, including schedules and associated resources, to deliver the project as agreed in the business case
- Work effectively with all operational and business stakeholders to communicate, the planned changes and answer and technical engineering questions to satisfy acceptance of the planned changes
- Ensuring all supplied and developed technical manuals, certifications and training courses are produced to an acceptable level of completeness and quality
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 - 10 years experience
- Licenced as a professional engineer
- Previous experience with OCS systems within a railway environment including implementation challenges and constraints
- Exposure to Systems/Network Engineering & Security highly desirable
- Solid understanding of and experience with Systems Engineering approach to design including Safety in Design, Security in design, RAMS, FMECA, requirements management, V model, testing and requirements verification and validation
