Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) currently have multiple vacancies for Structures Design Review Engineers to join our team as part Level Crossing Review Group (LXRG).
The Structures Design Review Engineer is responsible for the provision of effective and timely review services of reports and designs submitted by the Level Crossing Removal Alliances in accordance with the MTM Design Assurance Procedure to check whether these reports and designs meet the relevant MTM standards and defined operational requirements.
Based at our offices in the CBD, this role is offered on full time permanent basis.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Conduct reviews of design drawings, reports and supporting technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant MTM standards, legislative and regulatory requirements, operational requirements and due diligence processes and safe SFAIRP requirements
- Assist the Structures Design Review Lead with the review of Standard Waivers and Engineering Changes, responding to Requests For Information, producing Type Approval recommendations and developing Technical Notes, Specifications and Standards
- Attend Risk Assessments, Safety in Design Reviews and Design Workshops with client and project design and delivery partner groups as requested by the Structures Design Review Lead
- Effectively identify, consult and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that functional and operational requirements are met, design related matters are effectively managed and works are successfully integrated
- Consult and liaise with MTM engineering disciplines to ensure all works are suitably integrated
- Plan, organize and prioritise assigned tasks to ensure they are completed on time and deliver consistent high quality outputs
- Monitor and report on the progress of all issues regarding the assigned tasks and promptly notify management of any matters which could have a material adverse effect on a project or the business
- Support initiatives to identify improvement opportunities in work practices, methods and activities
About You
- Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Bridge and Structures Engineering in a design, construction and/or maintenance environment
- Effective communication skills both verbally and written across a multi-disciplinary organisation
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in a railway system operational or design environment preferred but not essential
