We are currently looking for a Systems Engineering Manager to work on the MTM Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) and Sunshine Systems Alliance (SSA) Project.
The Systems Engineering Manager, leading a small team of up to 3-5 direct reports to provide system engineering expertise particularly for a modern rail subsystem, to support and coordination required for Sunshine Systems Alliance (SSA) as part of Melbourne Airport Rail Project (MAR) to deliver its technical objectives and requirements.
You will liaise with relevant MAR work packages and project owners (ie. RPV, MTP, HCMT) engaged and provide effective systems engineering support to ensure that all specification, design, build, testing, verification, validation, and commissioning activities are completed in line with MTM standards, Project Requirements and with minimal risk to the current and future operationAal network.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide engineering oversight of the project to satisfy the obligations and requirements of the MTM (RTO) “Safety Management System” (SMS); and “Engineering Management System” (EMS) as tailored for the specific sub systems for the project.
- Developed and maintain System Engineering documentation relating to SSA including: Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP); Package System Requirements Specification (SRS); Interface Control Documents (ICD); Application Design documents (ADDs) and Operational / Maintenance Concept Document (OCD/MCD)
- Maintain requirements in DOORS NG following the Change Management process and ensure that requirements tracking is up to date with project progress;
- Participate in the Verification and Validation (V&V) phase of the project including, but not limited to, review of Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), Test procedures, Test reports and witness Test and Commissioning activities;
- Undertake review of project documentation and design; ensure compliance to the Project Scope and Technical Requirement (PS&TR), MTM standards, Australian Standards, laws and regulation;
- Identify continuous improvement work practices, methods and activities specifically around the development and implementation of systems engineering practices into the MTM business
- Lead and support training and capability building for all key stakeholders to ensure consistent application / compliance with divisional and corporate relevant peers and stakeholder groups
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key stakeholders informed.
About You
- Tertiary Qualification/Professional qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of Systems Engineering managing complex projects through the Systems Engineering lifecycle
- Experience managing and mentoring a small team
- A minimum of 3 years rail systems experience is preferred
- Experience in the use of IBM DOORS® for requirements Management
- Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to whilst managing complex situations, having solid problem solving and negotiating skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally & written will all levels of stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, ability to write reports and manage time effectively.
