About the role:
As our Substation Electrician, you’ll undertake corrective, preventative maintenance and renewals activities of our electrical network assets, working in accordance with relevant traction substations and substation network infrastructure standards.
To excel in this position, you’ll need to be driven, motivated, and work well with others in challenging environments so that you can take instruction and perform work as required, all whilst ensuring the safety of all persons working near Electrical Network assets.

This is a full-time Night Shift rostered position based in Burnley, which requires you to undertake shift work duties including weekends. In this position you’ll also be required to work reasonable overtime as required and respond to after hour’s emergencies.
Responsibilities include:

Perform work associated with the construction, inspections, maintenance, renewal or upgrade of substation electrical network assets.

Perform HV operations and switching and issue permits.
-
Attend to electrical network faults, diagnosing root cause and implementing fixes.
-
Accurately report all information regarding electrical network faults.
-
Respond to Electrol work requests to manage identified non-conformities.
-
Perform Track Force Protection Coordinator safe working duties.
-
Operate vehicles and specialised mobile plant, ensuring their maintenance and safety.

Contribute to work planning, ensuring works are performed as efficiently as possible.

Accurately report on works completed daily, such as time worked, work orders etc.

Ensure potential hazards are identified and prevention/control measures are provided.
About you:
-
Minimum 2 years' experience working in the electrical industry, with extensive knowledge of electrical substations and equipment.

A Grade Electrician or Cert III in Electrotechnology Electrician – mandatory.
-
Qualified in Elevated Platform use.
-
Qualified First Aid and CPR Certificate.
-
Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s license.
-
Sound knowledge of the safety requirements of working in the rail and maintenance industry, such as OH&S, Codes of Practice, safe working practices and High Voltage Rules.

Good communication skills, with the ability to interpret plans, specifications etc.
