About the position:
The Practice Manager Testing role will lead and develop the testing practice within the OCMS (Technology) team. The role leads a team of testers to direct the work undertaken in the context of various projects, matching specific project needs to testing knowledge and specialist skills available including manual, automation, regression, functional, non-functional and agile based testing.
The role will ensure the development and execution of the OCMS testing framework required to ensure successful deployment and ongoing performance of systems deployed across all OCMS Delivery portfolios.
The role will also provide practice leadership to ensure that best practices and tools are leveraged to plan, develop, and conduct testing in order achieve successful project-based business outcomes. This relates to coaching and mentoring testers along with oversight and QA of services delivered via direct stakeholder feedback.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing a team of 10-15 testers, you will have the opportunity to develop the team both professionally and technically
- Managing assigned projects in a Test Lead/Test Manager capacity
- Test Governance in accordance with the OCMS standards that will ensure testing standards, testing process consistency
- Supporting, assisting, and updating the OCMS Testing Framework
- Development & maintenance of the testing resource pipeline
- Test Estimation input into Project Brief that is communicated to the relevant internal and external peer groups
- Reporting & Risk Mitigation on testing activities across OCMS Portfolio
- Test Management - Creation of high-quality Test Strategy/ Plan / Test Approach, Test Summary Report, facilitating Defect Triage meetings
- Uplift the OCMS Test Practice (Functional, Automation & Non-Functional Testing) by identifying and leveraging industry best practice tools and practices to optimise testing execution
- Act as liaison between the Business Units, technology teams and support teams
- Develop a deep understanding of the MTM organisational context, structure, and operation within the team to drive testing practice evolution
- Work collaboratively with the OCMS portfolio managers and project managers to ensure that a standardised and consistent approach to testing is adopted, including the use of the MTM testing methodology, tools and templates
- Provide coaching and advice to Project Managers, Sponsors and Budget Owners on effective testing practices
- Engaging key stakeholders across the team, division and broader organisation ensuring that effective relationships are developed and maintained
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and return on investments where possible
About you and qualifications:

- Prior experience leading a team in either a management or team leader capacity
- Tertiary qualification in IT
- ISTQB qualification along with 10 plus years in functional testing experience
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality testing across Waterfall and Agile project delivery scenarios
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience managing both internal and external customers
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
