The Projects team at Metro are range of dedicated teams pursuing project delivery and engineering excellence for the expanding suburban railway, which serves Melbourne, one the most liveable cities in the world.

The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a transformational public transport project that will bring more trains to your suburb and reduce travel times by running the busy Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines through a new tunnel. By untangling the City Loop, more trains can run more often across Melbourne.

We’ve finished digging twin 9km tunnels, and construction is underway on 5 new stations and testing of the new High Capacity Signalling system that will enable turn-up-and-go services.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Radio OCS Engineer to assist with the development, planning and coordinate the testing and commissioning of Radio Systems within the Operational Control Systems (OCS) being delivered as part of the Metro Tunnel Project. You will work closely with a range of different stakeholders which includes planning, development, documentation and coordination of the end-to-end radio system test and commissioning requirements.

This role is a fulltime, fixed-term based in Melbourne’s CBD.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, develop and coordinate the delivery of testing and commissioning activities around the Operational Control Systems (OCS) delivered and modified within the project
  • Configure, test and assist in troubleshooting radio devices associated with the Metro Tunnel Project. Devices include active and passive distributed antenna system (DAS), Digital train radio (GSM-DTRS), Two-Way repeater radio (DMR and P25), MNO Carrier services (LTE/UTMS) and WIFI.
  • Follow a System Engineering framework associated with detailed reporting of verification and validation (V&V) evidence for system requirements.
  • Liaise and work closely with the technical team within the OCS/ICT functions around set-up, delivery and reporting around test procedures within the Project life cycle
  • Work closely with the Systems Integration and Test team to ensure that all the testing activities are documented and reported correctly to the relevant engineering testing tools and applications used.
  • Engage with a range of stakeholders across the alliance teams and wider project team to work collaboratively across the project

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in applicable technical field or relevant industry experience
  • Previously worked within the rail or telecommunications industry
  • Experience in Systems Engineering
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience within testing & commissioning methodologies
  • Has experience with developing high quality technical documentation and reporting
  • Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using engineering-based requirements management and testing tools (DOORS, RQM)
  • Experience in configuring, test, troubleshooting Operational IP networks (E.g., Cisco, Extreme)
