The Engineering Standards Specialist is responsible for the development of new and updated Engineering Standards (including Standards, Specifications and Technical Notes) in accordance with the Engineering Standards Development Procedure.
Join the team on a 12 month max term contract located at our Metro Trains Head Office Docklands.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the authoring of new and revised Engineering Standards.

Manage the progression of assigned Engineering Standards through the MTM Engineering Standards Development Procedure.

Provide technical advice and mentoring to discipline SMEs to ensure that input requirements are measurable, unambiguous, and rational, and that there is consistency between Engineering Standards.

Drive continual improvement in the development and revision of Engineering Standards, including the development processes.

Engage with external SMEs, including DTP, MTIA, LXRP and RPV, regarding draft Engineering Standards, non-conformances to Engineering Standards (Waivers), the ongoing development program and priorities for development.

Any other duties as specified by the manager.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Engineering degree or like technical qualification with 5+ years’ relevant experience.

Experience in a technical writing role highly desirable.

Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge and ability.

Strong interpersonal skills with a proven capability to quickly develop relationships of trust and partner effectively with stakeholders.

Agile in working style and capable of managing multiple changing priorities.

Autonomous in style and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Able to communicate effectively to management and staff at all levels (verbal and written).
