The Community Education Team plays a central role in Metro’s Community Investment and Education Strategy, On Track, to deliver important community support and resources. The strategy has four focus areas - safety, mental health, inclusion and community involvement.
Guide delivery of a structured education program to increase rail safety awareness and build confidence of our passengers as they travel on Melbourne’s rail network. The Leader will also assist to deliver other parts of the strategy to build strong community networks and enhance the reputation of Metro.
The role is located at 700 Collins Street offices, with flexibility work from home, on a full time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a best practice rail safety education program tailored to meet audience needs with material that is current, consistent with Metro operations and brand guidelines, and engaging for participants
- Establish and monitor a robust evaluation and measurement system to enable accurate and informed decision making about the impact and effectiveness of the program, including maintenance of a sessional database to inform periodic reporting
- Develop and deliver a calendar of community education activities and events, and coordinate assisted travel trips for community groups or people with specific needs
- Lead, coach and support Community Education Team members to deliver a high quality education program, meeting key performance indicators, and create a positive team environment where individuals can be their best
- Contribute to the effective mitigation of safety and compliance matters on the Metro network (e.g. ticketing, trespass, unruly behaviour).
- Work with colleagues to contribute to Metro’s Community Investment and Education Strategy to deliver community activities and initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- The successful candidate will undergo a 22335VIC Certificate III in Public Transport Customer Service and Compliance (10 weeks paid training) at Metro Academy and undergo additional checks. You will be required to train, obtain and maintain Authorised Officer qualification(s).
- 2+ years experience in leading and coaching a team, preferably in an education or community relations environment.
- Developing, co-ordinating and delivering complex education programs in multiple formats (face to face and/or online) to a variety of audiences.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience in preparing communications and/or community engagement plans.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and proven problem solving capability.
- Microsoft Office suite technical skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and/or Power BI (or alternative database system)
