About the Role
Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) are currently seeking dynamic Cost Controller to support the Metropolitan Roads Project Alliance based in Richmond and to work with multiple stakeholders and support the delivery of a large-scale Level Crossing Removal Projects on Metro's behalf.
In this role, you will be responsible for the provision of project accounting, cost control, and costs administration support to projects which include project finance reports, project cash flow reports and support project cost code managers. The role supports the projects across the project life cycle providing technical and strategic advice, analytical oversight and support and guidance to maximise business and project outcomes.
- Full Time Opportunity – 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Accountabilities
The key responsibilities of a Cost Controller will include but not be limited to:
- Support the Commercial Lead with finance and cost control reporting and administration of the Alliance and miscellaneous projects
- Cost control & administration of Metropolitan Program Alliance (MRPA) financial matters including Monthly reporting including metrics, WON structure, forecasting, budgeting, transaction review/queries, infrastructure cost allocation, inter project transfers
- Manage and report weekly MRPA timesheets
- Manage month end processes as required including accruals, journal transfers, project invoicing, prudent margin calculations
- Assist with the preparation of Monthly Business Reports (MBR) reports include waterfall graphs, including preparation of consolidated reporting detailing project status, current project expenditure and projected cost to completion at Alliance and MTM level
- Purchase Orders - manage all MRPA and ad hoc purchase orders in Ariba
- Assist with outstanding Debtors
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports detailing project status, current project expenditure and projected cost to completion at Alliance and MTM level
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders including client representatives, internal Projects Group team members, corporate finance, Alliance commercial, financial and cost controllers and others
- Ensure compliance with project finance requirements to provide accurate, timely, quality accrual, cost and claim management processes.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualification in Business, Accounting or Equivalent – prerequisite
- High level of experience in using Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience in project cost control, finance, business administration and financial reporting systems
- Ability to liaise effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written).
- Ability to cope with competing demands and significant volume for work.
- Ability to extract, analyse and present statistical data in a clear and concise manner.
- CA/CPA highly desirable
- Experience and knowledge of key project accounting concepts desirable
- Experience in lump sum, design and construct, alliance and portfolios projects preferred.
