About The Role
An exciting opportunity to join our Metro Academy team as a dynamic Rail Industry Worker Administrator!
As a key member of our team, you will report to the Rail Industry Worker Coordinator and be responsible for overseeing the daily competency activities within the Competency Assurance Framework (CAF). This includes handling communication, reporting, and ensuring compliance.

Key Areas of Responsibility
As the Rail Industry Worker Administrator, your role will be pivotal in overseeing administration, communications, stakeholder engagement, compliance, and training. Your responsibilities include:
- Administer the RIW database, matrices, business rules and procedures as and where required, including upload and reminders to matrix/business rule/procedure owners.
- Review and upload an individuals’ records and skill sets, training and competencies within a national competency database, when directed to do so by the RIW Coordinator.
- Complete monthly compliance inspections against the RIW website.
- Administer contractor site access via extensions and exemptions to the project & program managers.
- Assist with development of all RIW Bulletins & communications and the upkeep of RIW information on the Metro Academy website.
- Administer the block/suspension process for RIW Breaches on the MTM Network.
- Administer the fraud investigation process for instances where fraud has been identified.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to stakeholders through email, website, bulletins and phone support line.
- Support the RIW Coordinator to maintain MTM RIW Procedures, Work Instructions and Business Rules including but not limited to A1678 Extensions/Exemptions, A1579 Project Management, A957 Business Rules Manual for the Contracting Rail Safety Worker.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the team, division and broader organisation ensuring that beneficial relationships are developed and maintained to facilitate compliance with RIW requirements and ongoing currency of matrices, business rules and procedural documents.
- Training: Assist with conducting training sessions for the Rail Industry Worker system with MTM employees and contractors.
About You
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in and undertaking tasks associated with the Rail Industry Worker Program
- Experience using Rail Industry Worker database
- Knowledge of Rail Safety National Law & related legislation (desirable but not essential)
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
- High level computer literacy skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to perform work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to
- Ability to work unsupervised
