About the position

You’ll join our Facilities team, working with a group of dedicated team members carrying out weed management and gardening tasks across the rail network. This is a fast-paced environment, works will be interfacing with MTM rail operations including maintaining train stations, stabling yards, customer carparks and depots.

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Monday – Friday, 7am-3.30pm
  • Working at various locations across the Melbourne Metro Train Network
  • Working outdoors and on the tools in a leading hand position

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a gardening maintenance team member while delivering a weekly maintenance schedule
  • Oversee and carry out labour intensive gardening tasks including mowing, weeding, mulching, blowing paths, pruning, and general cleanups at each location.
  • Managing a program to complete planned maintenance and reactive tasks with the required timeframes.
  • Complete reporting, providing clear updates on progress, issues and site conditions.
  • Maintain strong control over tools, equipment and consumables to ensure all work is completed safely and on time
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including strict protocols when working near active train tracks

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III or IV in Horticulture, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in horticulture, gardening or landscaping across large parks, reserves or complex outdoor environments
  • Skilled in using and maintaining a range of mowers, trimmers and small plant equipment
  • Confident in leading others while working hands on in physically demanding conditions
  • Strong planning, scheduling and time management skills
  • Basic proficiency with iPads and Microsoft Office
  • Current Full Victorian Driver’s Licence
