As part of the Young, Inclusive and Ageing Communities leadership team, you will be a strategic champion and provide operational oversight to the following services:
- Community Transport
- Community Meals
- Home Maintenance/Modifications
The successful candidate will be well versed in strategic people management with a passion for seeking, building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will actively contribute to the success of the Young, Inclusive and Ageing Communities department through team collaboration and mentoring, ensuring the wider team is best placed to provide high quality, best practice services and programs.
Responsibilities:
- To monitor the relevant markets and community needs, and be able to adapt services in a timely manner to suit emerging trends, either directly or through partnerships.
- To constantly manage, lead and oversee service reviews and improvements to service efficiency and effectiveness, with the aim make a positive impact in the community.
- To ensure effective leadership and management in the provision of high quality / best practice services and programs that meet Council’s values, relevant regulations, legislation and funding requirements.
- To facilitate the development of budgets, policies, procedures, strategic and action plans for the Community Meals, Transport and Home Modifications and Maintenance Services
- Provide prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent customer service when dealing internally and externally ensuring that all obligations, agreements and deadlines are met whilst always seeking positive outcomes for those interacting with the City of Moonee Valley.
- To collaborate with internal stakeholders to oversee the Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Organisational Development, Change Management, Work Health & Safety, Procurement, Risk and business continuity needs of the unit.
- To contribute to the success of the Young, Inclusive and Ageing Communities Department through active teamwork and effective performance of the responsibilities and duties of the position.
Skills and experience:
- Experience in the management of a diverse portfolio of services within the community services sector.
- High level experience / skills in the areas of staff management/ development.
- Tertiary qualifications or suitable experience in, Allied Health, Social Work, Community Services or related disciplines.
- Extensive and diverse experience implementing project and change management frameworks.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, standards and accreditation processes.
- Experience in the management and delivery of projects including demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams delivering effective results within time and budget constraints.
- Demonstrated competence and ability to manage and lead a team of professionals and mentor less experienced professional staff and contractors.
- Experience in managing and meeting budgetary requirements and program objectives.
