The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council have a project manager opportunity responsible for the timely and effective delivery of allocated capital works projects for Tree Planting and minor projects in Open Space / the Public Realm. You will possess a strong knowledge of horticultural or arboricultural theory and practice as well as skills in time management, setting priorities and planning & organising your own work. The key objective of the position is to design and deliver the forward accelerated tree planting program to meet Council’s canopy target as outlined within the MV2040 Strategy. Your positive contributions will help meet key targets in achieving the long-term goal of increasing the tree canopy cover within the municipality.
Responsibilities
- Project management of the Urban Forest and Open Space Projects of varying scope, complexity, budget and technical requirements
- Plan, design, consult, procure, problem solve, facilitate and implement solutions to complex and detailed issues associated with tree planting
- Provision of timely and accurate progress reporting for projects
- Establish and coordinate internal project working groups ensuring appropriate levels of consultation with relevant stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in delivering tree planting programs in streets and open space.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage, plan and organise own workloads to achieve project objectives within approved time frames.
- Financial management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Completion of a degree or diploma course in arboriculture/horticulture or lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in contract management.
- Delivery of Urban Forest initiatives in the public realm.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
