The Opportunity
This exciting opportunity will see you delivering a range of Family Services programs and initiatives to children and families within Moonee Valley.
Reporting directly to the Team Leader Family Services, you will be responsible for the following:
- Working alongside the universal service system in Moonee Valley to deliver a collaborative, integrated service response focusing on positive outcomes for children and their families in most need of support
- Offering Integrated Family Services case management to children and families delivering support, information, advice, referral, advocacy, parenting workshops, group work and activities to children, families and carers.
In a typical day, a Family Services Worker might:
- Use a creative approach to arrange a visit with a reluctant new family
- Build rapport to carry out a parenting assessment within a client's home
- Review plans to support a family's goals with the Team Leader
- Consult with Child Protection
- Participate in a reflective practice group supervision session with your team members
About You
To be suitable for this position, you will possess:
- An understanding of the Best Interests Assessment and Case Practice Framework and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
- Well developed skills in strengths based, family sensitive practice, rapport building and engagement with children and families
- High level risk assessment skills and a comprehensive understanding of risk and protective factors within the context of child and family work
- Current Working with Children Check and Victorian Driver's Licence
