The Opportunity
Working as part of our Umarkoo Wayi - Equity, Access and Youth Unit, this position will play an important role in developing and coordinating Council's approach to diverse and inclusive community-based policy, programming, practice, and initiatives. This includes applying an inclusive practice and intersectional lens to MV2040 priority populations to improve social outcomes of equity, participation, and human rights.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating policy and program development within Council to ensure positive social outcomes for the community, with a particular focus on MV2040 priority populations experiencing structural disadvantage.
- Provide strategic advice and advocacy that aligns with portfolios within the Unit and across Council initiatives, utilising an intersectional and inclusive lens.
- Coordinate and lead the delivery of key events, training, workshops required to deliver on the portfolio area utilising an evidence-based approach.
- Oversee and maintain the Rainbow Tick accreditation with support from Aged & Disability and Youth Services Teams.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with key community partners, to ensure diverse representation and support within Council and across the municipality.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective operations and coordinate relevant projects within the portfolio areas to empower and build inclusion for diverse communities.
- Provide advice and guidance on wider diversity, equity and inclusion projects and programs where relevant and required.
- Ensure a current working knowledge of government initiatives and priorities, relevant research and good practice in the diversity, equity and inclusion sector.
About You
To be suitable for the role, you will possess the following:
- Completion of a degree or diploma course with some relevant experience; or through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
