The Opportunity
Moonee Valley Libraries is seeking a forward-thinking, digitally-savvy Online Engagement Librarian to join our team. If you're passionate about online communication, community access, and public libraries, this is your opportunity to help shape and lead our library's digital presence.
You'll be at the forefront of enhancing how we engage with our community online-developing vibrant content, managing our website and social media channels, and ensuring technology services are user-friendly and accessible. You'll also play a key role in supporting our public technology environment and mentoring library staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and author engaging content for the library's website and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with Council's Communications Team to ensure consistency and alignment with wider communications strategies.
- Support the creation of print and digital promotional materials.
- Coordinate the publication of online program content.
- Provide frontline customer service and support, including assistance with technology such as computers, eBooks, library apps, and mobile devices.
- Play a leadership role during rostered shifts and help mentor and guide other staff.
- Oversee and maintain public-facing technology infrastructure at Sam Merrifield Library, liaising with internal IT and external vendors as needed.
- Generate statistical reports and support continuous improvement in technology and online engagement.
Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will have a library and information science qualification acceptable for ALIA Associate membership, along with relevant experience in public libraries, particularly in delivering online and technology services. You will bring strong knowledge of web content creation (including HTML), social media platforms, and digital collections, and be comfortable troubleshooting a wide variety of tech devices. Your strong communication skills, ability to lead and mentor staff, and commitment to customer service will help you thrive in a team environment that values initiative, innovation, and community connection. A current driver's licence is desirable.
