  • Salary commencing at $112,111.94 per annum ranging up to $126,297.76 per annum, plus 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience.
  • An exciting opportunity to champion Child Safety at Moonee Valley City Council.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting ongoing opportunity to join Council as Senior Child Safe Advisor, the central contact person for all parts of the organisation in all matters related to the Victorian Child Safe Standards. The role is embedded in the Legal & Governance team but has stakeholders across all services and level of Council. The Advisor will work on continuous improvement of our Child Safe system and foster Child Safe Culture through trainings, advice and communication all year round.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance and improvement of Moonee Valley City Council's (Council) Child Safe system (policy, procedures) in line with the requirements of the Child Safe Standards and the Victorian Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, and in cooperation with Council's Family and Children Services who are responsible the dedicated requirements for these services.
  • Chair the Child Safe Steering Committee that enables strategic considerations, direction, monitoring and an organisation wide approach to child safety.
  • Undertake child safety data analysis and reporting, providing reports to audiences such as the Child Safe Steering Committee, Audit and Risk Committee and the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead child safe and reportable conduct incident management, notification, reporting, compliance review and gathering of data. Ensure that incidents are managed sensitively, effectively and appropriately, as well as identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Human Resources or other relevant discipline, or lesser relevant qualifications with demonstrated current experience in implementing the (Victorian) Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk, compliance and assurance methodologies including ISO9001, ISO31001 or similar management systems.
  • Experience in leading Reportable Conduct or similar investigations.
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and design accessible policies and procedures in response.
  • Experience in coordinating complex internal/external stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in working in a child safe environment and building a child safe organisational culture.
  • Experience of building and delivering engaging training programs to varied stakeholders in matters such as the MARAM Framework and Information Sharing Schemes.
  • Cert IV Trainer and Assessor would be considered desirable.
