The opportunity

We are seeking a Traffic Modeller to join our Transport team. From roads to highways your typical day will include analytics and modelling include base model calibration and validation, project model scenarios to assess impact to wider road network.


You'll join a highly respected and growing traffic and transport team which is at the forefront of integrated transport planning in Australia and New Zealand, working alongside and building connections with our globally respected specialists. As a Traffic Modeller you will have experience with providing advice and assistance on analytical across all disciplines

  • Providing traffic modelling advice and technical services to support projects in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives as agreed with project managers.
  • Winning and delivering quality transport projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Staying abreast of advances in transport modelling software, approaches and methods of delivery.
  • Being client focused, identifying opportunities for both internal and external clients and how these may be addressed by the team, region and wider Mott MacDonald group.
  • Understanding clients current and future potential needs, and documenting how they will be achieved in proposals and project plans.
  • Taking part in technical excellence practice areas and developing innovative and cost-effective practices to deliver a high-quality service to internal and external clients.


About you

We would like to talk to candidates with an appreciation of the power and value that analytics, modelling and interpretation can deliver in informing and providing evidence to support decision making. You will have an understanding of demand and operational models of current and future traffic issues and land use integration and how to optimise traffic signals and understanding of traffic management would be of huge interest to us.

  • Demonstrated experience in development and application of traffic models to support a range of planning, operational and infrastructure projects.
  • A high level of knowledge, training and experience in the application of one or more current transport modelling software packages, desirably AIMSUN, SIDRA and Cube.
  • Rounded experience across other relevant disciplines, including traffic engineering, transport and/or urban planning.
  • Experience in analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex data sets, ensuring that results, outcomes and recommendations can be understood by non-modellers.
  • Effective communication skills, work collaboratively in a team environment and takes pride in delivering quality work
