The Strategic Business Services (SBS) function plays a significant role in ensuring NAB is regarded as Australia and New Zealand’s most respected bank, through the way they treat our business, Agri, Health, Private and corporate customers in times of need.
What is the role all about?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate within SBS. This role is primarily responsible for controlling credit and collection functions and developing policies to ensure that an acceptable level of risk is maintained and losses are kept to a minimum. Further to this you will be responsible for the management of complex categorised (distressed) Business & Personal Banking accounts. Management of a categorised account requires personal engagement with customers to assess, develop, implement and drive turnaround and recovery strategies, manage capital, minimise losses and protect the Bank’s brand. Action plans may require you to assess and, where appropriate, approve new lending.
Further duties include but are not limited to:
- Assess submissions and make recommendations in respect of requests for increased lending received from customers managed by the Global Heads of Specialised Business Services, all of which will be of significant value, complex and risk of substantial loss is ubiquitous
- Assess lending requests that emanate from categorised asset files which are distressed and where there is a real reputational risk and / or significant loss to the Group
- Prepare and articulate strategies on Customer files for approval
- Interaction with Executive General Manager, Risk Management, General Manager, Group Credit Bureau and other Group executive Management to focus on asset quality issues.
- Direct customer interface to successfully implement strategies including engagement of Stakeholders when required
Your skills and experience
This position will appeal to highly motivated and technically proficient risk management specialists. You will need to demonstrate proven decision making and team building capability together with an ability to think strategically and demonstrate a broad-based view of issues, events and activities.
The successful candidate must be a strong communicator/have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks for a variety of stakeholder groups, for example the NAB Legal team, Business, Agri and Private Bank Managers and Associates. Ideally the successful candidate will have at least one of the following:
- A formal tertiary qualification in the areas of accounting, economics, commerce, law or another business discipline.
- Experience with business bank products and securities, loan applications and/or credit risk assessment and analysis
- Experience using bank systems including Siebel, eCRS and eBOBs
In addition, the following skills/experience would be highly regarded:
- Working knowledge of insolvency and/or corporations law
- Strong IT skills including Excel
- Experience in finance, accounting or management position in a business environment
Your ability to challenge conventional norms and aid in the development of innovative solutions will be key in your ultimate success. Prior strong practical experience in a Credit Risk environment will be highly regarded.
