About the role
You will be joining NAB Connect Team who provide technical support for our most critical Business Internet Banking application called NAB Connect along with many other business banking applications.
As an Analyst Support Engineer, you will understand your application end to end, and maintain infrastructure hosted on AWS & Azure. You will be responsible for monitoring application 24 by 7 and in case of any service interruptions, you will restore service quickly either through the application of workarounds or development of permanent fixes.
You will be participating in all stages of the SDLC using Agile methodologies. It’s an exciting time to be part of this service with one of the first large scale application in Australia running a multi-cloud system in AWS and Azure.
This is a Production Support role that requires you to be on-call 24 x 7, in a 5-week roster (1 week primary, 1 week secondary), to maintain and recover the Business Banking applications. You will be required to host conference calls to analyse, diagnose and troubleshoot to resolve the larger system impacting issues. The Support team are also responsible for Production Release activities that are performed out of business hours, typically after working hours or weekends.
What you’ll be doing
The successful applicant will be an experienced Support Engineer who will be responsible for covering production application support and maintaining AWS & Azure infrastructure, as well as the following:
- Develop an understanding of our infrastructure AWS stack to efficiently and expertly manage our infrastructure partners on patching and security remediation activities or perform the activities ourselves
- Improve, enhance and correct platform operation through monitoring and self-recovery automation across production and non-production environments
- Independently diagnose problems, applying solutions, timely escalation of issues and documenting knowledge in Knowledge Articles, Known Errors and Recovery Plans
- Maintain a 24/7 global production platform requiring rostered out of hours and weekend support
- Be a go to person for Developers and Service team members for troubleshooting
- Work in an agile environment, attending stand-ups, retros, planning, showcases and other agile meetings and ceremonies
- Collect logs and metrics, build dashboards, review and update alerts including monitoring using Enterprise tools like Splunk
- Work closely with Engineering Managers, Scrum Masters and Solution Designers determine platform requirements and priorities

You will be an experienced Analyst Support Engineer who is able to demonstrate a high degree of technical innovation and attention to detail whilst being recognised as a trusted advisor to the team and stakeholders. You will be versatile, having enthusiasm to identify and resolve problems, and have a collaborative attitude towards your work and colleagues.
- Experience in using Service Management Tools such as ServiceNOW
- Certified with at least one of the Cloud Services (AWS / Azure), Hands on experience is a plus.
- Strong JAVA, JavaScript, Shell Programming and Database Programming (Oracle SQL, Microsoft SQL Server) Skills
- Proven ability to use relevant data analytics approaches and tools (Splunk, AppDynamics etc) to monitor, troubleshoot and manage Environments
- Good understanding of infrastructure including Firewalls, Certificate Management, DNS, patching, backup and recovery, vulnerability remediation, Control-M
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Programming Concepts
- Experience in using Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Artifactory and GIT
- 2+ years’ experience in Incident, Problem, Change and Disaster Recovery Management practices with exposure to Capacity, Risk and Availability Management requirements
