Reporting to the Manager Financial Crime Investigations, the Senior Analyst will be investigating high risk AML matters relating to potential syndicated fraud matters, Fintel Alliance referrals, law enforcement referrals, statutory legal notices to name a few. You will work in partnership with your Financial Crime Risk Mitigation and Financial Crime Operations colleagues, internal stakeholders and government agencies to ensure that NAB and our customers are protected from criminal activity.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsibility for investigating high risk and priority legal notices
- Investigating and participating in Fintel Alliance operations
- Lead and investigate large syndicated fraud investigations (100-1,000 parties involved)
- Investigation of high-risk matters including but not limited to national security, threat to life, child sexual exploitation, modern slavery, drug trafficking, serious and organised crime, money laundering and fraud
- Investigate escalations from internal teams
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in continuous improvement strategies for the team
- Provide guidance/support to junior analysts
- Investigation case summary reports, grounds for suspicion, SMR submission, indicators papers and intelligence products
- Identify and report on risk matters
What you will bring
To be successful in the role you must have demonstrated a minimum three years’ experience in a relevant investigative role or law enforcement or in a regulatory environment where you have participated in complex investigations as well as managing competing priorities.
Applicants will also be expected to have:
- At least three years’ experience in a relevant role in Financial Services, locally or globally and/or equivalent experience in investigative roles, such as law enforcement, regulatory environments, government bodies or financial services.
- NV1 Commonwealth Government security clearance or the ability to obtain one will be considered favourably.
- Demonstrated complex investigation capability required.
- Demonstrated planning, time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Has experience as the lead investigator on an investigation, with extensive knowledge and understanding of their obligations under the AML CTF Act.
- Experience in successful investigation planning.
- Draft intelligence products and indicators papers.
- Conduct syndicate investigations with over 100 parties.
- Experience in coaching and guiding younger team members.
