- We are current looking for an experienced leader to take on the role of Head Of Technology, running the Quality Engineering team.
Your opportunity
- This role provides direction and leadership to the Quality Engineering (“QE”) delivery team of ~400 engineers. The team delivers:
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- Integrated performance engineering
- Test automation frameworks
- Test tools and platforms
- Ad hoc consultancy on testing and quality, as required
- The department is accountable for the final implemented quality of complex, cross-domain software
- Ensure a suitable workforce strategy is in place to manage a significant change budget of $30m+
- The QE brand should characterise the NAB core values, and build advocacy with internal colleagues and external customers, driving a positive and measurable change for the benefit of customers, communities, employees and NAB.

The role and Day to day will include
- Lead a large team of technical engineers across Australia and India
- Encourage and promote diversity in the team, and act as a role model to enable, engage and motivate the team to perform at their highest level
- Coach and develop your leadership team to succeed in all aspects of their role
- Create and execute a clear strategy and roadmap that uplifts the technical QE capability across NAB
- Innovate and embed QE practices that deliver customer value, whilst monitoring and tracking the effectiveness of your strategy across services and platforms
- Make informed commercial decisions of most suitable vendors and software/tools that meet organisational QE needs
- Establish strong working relationships with the senior leaders and owners of technical services across the enterprise, and ensure that the right people, processes, and tools are available to meet the highest level of service and support their roadmap
- The role works closely with U&EU Delivery Orchestration and Innovation Executive, as well as the broader NAB technology teams
- Delivery of a strategy that clearly articulates the approach, timeframes and measures required to uplift the QE service across the bank
- Execution of the strategy, demonstrating measurable uplift of capability across the centralised QE team, as well as uplift of capability in other NAB domains
- Ensuring that the QE team are highly engaged, and people leader scores are in the top 10% as reflected in the Nab staff engagement surveys
- Establishment of appropriate forums and Communities of Practice (CoP’s) that enable QE to uplift their capabilities and staff engagement
- Innovative ideas around leading-edge technology to enable automated and efficient testing practices
- Positively contributing to U&EU and NAB’s culture. As a member of the Leadership Team, taking the time to reflect on self and actively explore development opportunities
- Measurable increase in efficiency and speed of delivery through automaton
- Improvement in QE employee engagement and people leader scores
- Improvement in QE measures that have been defined as a part of the communications strategy
- Improvement in the gender diversification of the QE talent pool using recruitment strategies, reward equality, and representation at all QE employee levels
- Proactively manage risk, meeting all policy and compliance requirements; perform controls; adhere to process and procedures pertinent to role; and escalate events, issues, or breaches as they are identified (risk accountability forms part of all roles, as everyone is responsible for managing risk and compliance)
What you will bring:
- Experience in a technology leadership role with accountability for managing large teams.
- Demonstrate experience as a trusted advisor who influences outcomes with senior executives/stakeholders and/or mitigates issues to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple issues and stakeholders, while working in a dynamic, cross functional and collaborative team environment.
