We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Employment Legal to join the Dispute Resolution and Regulatory Investigations team.
The Head Of will provide advice on and be responsible for the management of actual or potential litigation, complaints, significant regulatory matters and reputational risks relating to employment law, industrial relations and employee health and safety matters. You will also lead a team of lawyers who provide advice on and manage those employment law, industrial relations and employee health and safety matters.
You will be tasked with selecting and appointing external lawyers, barristers and professional advisors
Reporting to the General Counsel, Dispute Resolution and Regulatory Investigations, you will be instrumental in making decision related to the team composition, structure and priorities.
In addition, your will be accountable for:
- Individually or jointly advising on matters of significant legal impact and/or commercial and reputational sensitivity
- Oversight of legal advice prepared for and provided to relevant business units
- Managing provision and cost of external legal services
- Oversight of legal advice prepared for and provided to relevant business units
- The management of the Employment Legal team’s portfolio of work and the management of the individual team members
- Assisting the NAB Group to avoid or minimise future litigation, regulatory matters and reputational risks in respect of employment law, industrial relations and employee health and safety matters
- Acting as a delegate for GC, DR&RI when required
What you’ll bring
You are a highly motivated individual who strives to consistently provide high quality, commercially relevant decisions in the management of our legal, regulatory and reputational risk.
In addition, you can demonstrate:
- Bachelor of Laws qualification, be admitted to Practice as a Barrister or Solicitor and hold a current Legal Practicing Certificate with 10+ years PQE
- Significant experience providing in financial institutions with advice on employment law, industrial relations and employee health and safety matters
- Proven ability to advise and influence senior management and executives and to develop and implement strategy at an enterprise level
- Experience in leading professional teams
- Deep understanding of the financial services industry and managing employment law, industrial relations and employee health and safety matters
- Excellent organisational skills, including prioritisation and time management
- Proven problem solver and excellent communication skills including ability to influence senior stakeholder and executives
