About the Role
We need your expertise, to identify new and emerging sustainability issues, strategically assess commercial and reputational risk, and opportunities to create positive community impact.
Reporting to the Executive of Sustainability, you will design and deliver programs to manage increasing community and stakeholder expectations in relation to social and environmental issues such as the impact of climate change and natural disasters on our communities.
As the Head of Sustainability, you will be responsible for identifying, establishing and managing community partnership and programs. In this role you will also design and manage external engagement and advocacy programs, which support shared-value business strategies.
What you'll be doing
- Strategic design and implementation of Sustainability programs, in support business strategies and initiatives to deliver shared-value
- Manage relevant reporting on sustainability initiatives including impact measurement and program evaluation
- Design and manage partnerships and programs with community or industry organisations to support NAB’s Sustainability strategy
- Identify and develop partnerships with community organisations or research to support NAB’s impact agenda
- Identify needs for philanthropic responses and manage relevant programs or partnerships, which are funded by the NAB Foundation
- Internal policy design, where there is an environmental and/or social impact of NAB’s operations
- Work with relevant Corporate Affairs function leaders to develop, implement, measure and review external stakeholder engagement strategies
- Lead engagement with industry associations.
- Provide strategic advice to business stakeholders, through a commercial and impact lens
- Strong leadership; Coaching, mentoring supervision of direct reports to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to perform their role
- Lead Corporate Affairs integrated planning and coordination of engagement activities, to ensure a consistency
What you'll bring
- At least 10-15 years experience in relevant roles including at least 7 years in sustainability/ESG strategy related roles
- Experience in navigating complex issues and a breadth of stakeholders across large organisations, especially financial institutions
- Experience in leading large, complex multi-year programs with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in corporate affairs is essential. Public policy or environmental affairs experience is desirable.
- Tertiary qualifications in related field preferred.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues and stakeholders, while working in a dynamic, cross functional and collaborative environment to achieve team outcomes.
