Job Expectations
An exciting opportunity has presented itself to join the Operations team as a Field Engineer.
As a Field Engineer reporting into the Area Manager, you will represent CFOps for all field-based assurance, support, integration, augmentation, field audits, connection quality and Delivery Partner (DP) quality activities across the nbn and the services connected to that network.
A bit about your role
In your new role as the Field Engineer, you will service providers and customers utilising a variety of delivery methods and technologies (MTM) ranging across FTTP, FTTB, FTTC, FTTN, HFC, Copper Last Mile, Wireless, Satellite as well as a number of supporting technologies (DWDM, L2 Aggregation and other supporting facilities).
You will provide high level field support which may involve travel, scheduled after hours activities, and may require you to be part of an on-call roster and respond to afterhours call outs.
In your new role as the Field Engineer you will:
Display evidence towards promoting a positive HSE culture
Involves frequent travel, on-call and call-out activities and travel to remote rural locations
Manage /conduct equipment and system level Service Assurance activities in the field
QI of network element installations and investigation of early-onset faults
Provide on-site, complex, technical and ad-hoc network support
Provide support for changes or upgrades to network elements.
Acceptance of outsourced assurance work through managing/conducting assurance related QI activities and support of the network.
Leadership in improving the passive and active network’s operational and technical processes
Provide ad hoc technical OJT and mentoring to staff
Provide high level field support for:
Network escalations
Difficult faults that cannot be resolved by the contractors
Access seeker complaints
External workforce quality audits and education
Manage operational maintenance for plant, equipment, test equipment, vehicles etc
A bit about you
You will have extensive experience in a Field Engineer role and will have significant experience within telecommunications, network construction or power environment. You will also bring a hands on experience in current telecommunications technology developments.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience on MTM ranging across FTTP, FTTB, FTTC FTTN, HFC, Copper Last Mile, Wireless, Satellite as well as several supporting technologies (DWDM, L2 Aggregation and other supporting facilities).
An ability to respond and work to tight deadlines in a short period of time will be essential for the success of this role. The successful candidate will be required to conduct frequent rural travel, and therefore should be mobile to travel with minimal notice.
You will bring strong organisational skills and advanced critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and will demonstrate the ability to solve complex network issues autonomously. You will have the ability to exercise sound judgement whilst adhering to the nbn policy and procedures.
Tertiary qualification or significant experience in telecommunications related disciplines and a currently Unrestricted Driver’s license.
