We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as Technical Specialist – HFC reporting to Executive Manager Network Operations Support.
A bit about your role
The role of the Technical Specialist (HFC) is multifaceted, encompassing responsibilities in both the Network Engineering and Production Engineering divisions. The specialist is tasked with maintaining the health of the Production Network, providing technical guidance, and supporting the Operations Support HFC team. They interface with vendors for defect fixes and upgrades, participate in RFP processes, and provide technical input to ensure alignment with nbn's operational requirements.
The role also involves supporting network projects, managing software and hardware lifecycles, and resolving complex service incidents. Furthermore, the specialist maintains open communication with stakeholders, upholds operational performance metrics within WBA SLA, and collaborates with various teams to improve production design and resolve design defects.
A bit about you
The Technical Specialist role is required to possess a good level of operational and technical expertise within the Production engineering HFC team and is expected to use their knowledge and experience to resolve incidents and issues (Network Problems). The ideal candidate for this role should possess industry-recognised certifications in routing, switching, and vectoring technologies. They should have good background in Telecommunications, IT, or vendor operational environments, with a proven track record in resolving incident and problem tickets. Any understanding / experience of DOCSIS, RF, Transport over HFC principles, FDM/TDM, OFDM, Quadrature Modulation Techniques, and be proficient with tools like CommScope E6000 CMTs, CM820B and CM8200 Cable modems, Incognito SAC and BCC, Skyline DataMiner, CORView, CHP Max500, CommScope NXT, DHCP, TFTP, HTTP, and IPv6 configuration is beneficial.
In terms of practical, specialist, and technical skills, the role demands high attention to detail, process-driven approach, high-level negotiation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have exposure to telecommunication tools & systems. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with advanced planning and organising abilities.
