A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Senior Engineer reporting to theExecutive Manager, Core Networks.
A bit about your role
As the Senior Engineer, you will play a vital role in enabling the seamless augmentation and migration of nbn’s Core Networks. You will help guide the development and implementation of processes, tools, and scripting that strengthen the quality, consistency, and efficiency of network integration activities. Your work will directly support the uplift of our deployment methodologies, reduce the risk of human error, and improve overall network integrity across a diverse multi‑technology environment.
In this role, you will be deeply connected to the heartbeat of nbn’s operational network. You will draw on your expertise across EAN/ANE Core aggregation networks, HFC, FTTN/B/P/C, Enterprise Ethernet, Fixed Wireless, Satellite, and associated OSS platforms to deliver safe and reliable network change. You will be trusted to support business‑critical after‑hours work, ensuring customer and service continuity during migrations, cutovers, and active augmentations. Collaboration will be central to your success, as you build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, work closely with delivery partners and vendors, and contribute to the continuous uplift of work instructions, procedures, and troubleshooting practices.
You will also be an encouraging presence for Migration Engineers, providing guidance, technical leadership, and practical coaching as they navigate complex issues across the network. By fostering clarity, connection, and shared purpose, you will help ensure every project is delivered with care, precision, and a focus on minimising customer impact.
A bit about you
If this sounds like the role for you, you will likely bring deep experience in telecommunications or IT environments, underpinned by strong technical capability across network integration, OSS systems, and multi‑technology domains. You will have a thoughtful and steady approach to solving complex engineering challenges, and you will be comfortable making informed technical decisions while knowing when to collaborate and elevate key matters to senior leaders.
You are someone who thrives in environments where adaptability, curiosity, and a commitment to quality are highly valued. You enjoy mentoring others and take pride in helping teams grow their confidence and capability. Your project management skills allow you to balance competing priorities, and your ability to create and refine processes supports consistent outcomes across large‑scale programs.
You bring a warm, collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to an organisation with a strong national purpose. Your ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and navigate ambiguity will make you a valued partner across the Core Networks team and the broader nbn community. With your blend of technical depth and people‑centred leadership, you will help ensure the network remains resilient, reliable, and ready for Australia’s future.
