We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Legal Counsel. This role will report to the General Counsel, Corporate and Regional Affairs and Sustainability.
A bit about your role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice that supports nbn’s strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will work across a diverse portfolio within the Legal and Regulatory team, including corporate affairs, regional initiatives, sustainability, and general corporate legal support, offering clarity in complex matters. Your role will involve identifying and managing legal issues, supporting negotiations, and partnering with stakeholders across the business to deliver outcomes that balance commercial priorities to support nbn’s strategic objectives. You will also have the opportunity to work across a range of other practice areas such as general corporate advisory, corporate governance, finance and property.
You will be trusted to bring thoughtful and innovative thinking to problem‑solving, providing practical and commercially focused advice that enables informed decision‑making. By engaging proactively with teams across the business, you will help shape strategies that mitigate risk and strengthen compliance, while contributing to nbn’s purpose of keeping Australia connected. This is a role where collaboration and adaptability are key, and you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of matters.
A bit about you
You are a legal professional with a current practicing certificate and 2–6 years’ post‑qualification experience, gained in a corporate environment or with in a mid- to top‑tier law firm. You bring a genuine interest in nbn’s purpose and the role it plays in connecting Australia, alongside strong technical capability and the confidence to navigate complex legal issues with judgement and care.
You thrive in collaborative environments and build trusted relationships through an inclusive approach. You are proactive and adaptable by nature, and comfortable working across shifting priorities and supporting your colleagues.
