This is a broad investment research role where you’ll have exposure to a range of asset classes, investment strategies and fund managers. You’ll contribute to the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of investment options, bringing together quantitative analysis, qualitative research and manager engagement to form well considered investment views.
You’ll also play an important role in supporting the ongoing governance of Netwealth’s investment menu, working across a diverse range of investment products and strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Support the research, selection and ongoing monitoring of investment strategies across a range of asset classes and investment styles
Conduct detailed due diligence on external fund managers, including manager meetings, qualitative assessments and portfolio reviews, in accordance with Netwealth’s Investment Governance Framework
Analyse investment strategies and portfolios, considering performance drivers, risk characteristics, liquidity, portfolio construction and investment outcomes
Develop an understanding of investment philosophies, processes, portfolio positioning and the key drivers of risk and return
Prepare high quality research papers, investment recommendations and manager reviews for Investment Committees
Support the ongoing governance of the investment menu, including investment option additions, monitoring, surveillance and removals

Support Investment Committee reporting and contribute to broader IMR initiatives and governance activities
About You
You’re a naturally curious investment professional who enjoys getting underneath an investment strategy and understanding what makes it work.
You may come from a research house, investment consulting firm, wealth manager, asset manager, superannuation fund, dealer group or platform environment. Your experience could span multi asset portfolios, managed funds, equities, fixed income, alternatives, property or a combination of asset classes.
More important than specialising in one particular asset class is your ability to critically assess investment strategies, understand portfolio construction and risk, engage confidently with fund managers and form well reasoned investment views.
You enjoy asking questions, challenging assumptions and understanding how an investment strategy may perform across different market environments. You’re equally comfortable diving into the detail and translating complex investment concepts into clear and practical insights for stakeholders.
Your Experience
Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or a related discipline, with CFA or an equivalent qualification highly regarded
Minimum 5 years’ experience in investment research, fund research, investment consulting, wealth management, asset management, superannuation or a related investment role
Experience researching investment managers, managed funds or investment strategies across one or more asset classes
Sound understanding of investment structures, portfolio construction, liquidity and risk and return characteristics
Experience conducting fund manager due diligence and preparing investment research or recommendations
Ability to analyse investment performance and understand the underlying drivers of portfolio outcomes
Understanding of Responsible Entity obligations for registered Managed Investment Schemes and Super Trustee requirements, including SPS 530, would be highly regarded
Familiarity with investment research and data platforms such as Morningstar and FactSet
Understanding of investment platforms and how advisers and clients use them is beneficial
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
