The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer this is a key role on the Legal, Risk and Compliance leadership team. You will be responsible for the management of Risk and Compliance for Netwealth Group Limited (NGL) (our listed entity) and its subsidiaries (Group). You will be responsible for the Line 2 risk and compliance functions for

  • Netwealth Investments Limited (NIL) who acts in the capacity as Operator of Netwealth’s Wrap Services, responsible entity of Netwealth’s Managed Account and Managed Investment Schemes, custodian of Netwealth’s assets and our broader administration responsibilities. and
  • Netwealth Superannuation Services (NSS) who will act in the capacity as Trustee of Netwealth’s Superannuation product.

You and your team will be responsible for partnering with the business areas to provide oversight over the Group’s risk and compliance frameworks, encourage best practice risk and compliance practices and provide advice on an effective control environment.

In this role you will be primarily responsible for:

Compliance:

  • Supervise compliance responsibilities of NGL and subsidiaries to ensure all entities comply with the law, regulatory requirements and internal procedures;
  • Manage the Compliance requirements of Netwealth Group entities and provide oversight over the compliance frameworks to ensure a consistent Group wide approach where practicable;
  • Assist in the monitoring of Netwealth compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements and group’s internal procedures;
  • Develop and maintain appropriate compliance registers to capture compliance requirements including obligations, controls and test registers;
  • Ability to drive compliance projects and positively influence compliance culture;
  • Identify, address and assess compliance risks including incidents and breaches;
  • Provide guidance to other team members on compliance matters and regulatory requirements as required;
  • Assist with reviewing activities and arrangements deemed to be material outsourcing.

Risk:

  • Assist in the identification, recording, and monitoring of risks and provide oversight in relation to the Risk Management Framework to ensure a consistent Group wide approach.
  • Work with the Netwealth Management team to identify risks and to implement appropriate controls to minimise loss, incidents and breaches and reputational damage.
  • Assist the business teams to identify control weaknesses or failings and provide advice to ensure controls are effective.
  • Manage, review and implement risk management policies, practices and standards.
  • Assess new, emerging and existing risks to identify and capture risk changes and work with the business to develop risk action plans;
  • Assist in the promotion of a positive risk culture throughout the businesses, including training and education where required.

General

  • Independently perform data analytics and work with Line 1 to implement new solutions to improve compliance and risk;
  • Provide leadership and support to the team, including managing and mentoring direct reports;
  • Provide of advice and guidance on risk and compliance matters as required;
  • Manage risk and compliance projects;
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all parts of the business;
  • Oversee work produced by the Risk and Compliance team and where applicable provide training and guidance;
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer in rolling out strategic risk and compliance business initiatives;
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer with managing regulatory relationships including with ASIC, APRA and AUSTRAC;
  • Work with the Legal, Risk and Compliance team to ensure all risk and compliance matters for Netwealth are managed appropriately;
  • Opportunity to take on regulated roles (e.g. AML/CTF Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer);
  • Member of the Legal, Risk and Compliance Leadership Team; and
  • Secretary to the Netwealth Group Limited Compliance Risk Management Committee.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 10+ years financial service experience is essential;
  • 6+ years risk/compliance leadership experience is essential;
  • Superannuation, Investments, IDPS and Managed Account experience is essential;
  • Deep understanding of risk management disciplines including the development of an effective control environment;
  • Deep understanding of law and regulatory requirements applicable to Netwealth including Financial Services, Superannuation, Privacy and Anti-Money Laundering;
  • Ability to influence change and interact with all levels of the organisation, including the Board, Committees and Executive;
  • A degree in Economics, Finance, Legal or Commerce (or similar) is preferable;
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage matters;
  • Sound problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • A positive and proactive attitude and an ability to adapt to change; and
  • A passion for providing outstanding service to your stakeholders.
