About the role
In this newly created role and reporting into the Head of Software Engineering you will lead a team of high-performing Data Engineers and Developers who are responsible for back-end data processing, internal business intelligence and overall platform stability.
This is a people leadership, project delivery and strategy role. You will lead, coach and mentor your team, reviewing the output and quality of work, ensuring that solutions built are consistent, maintainable, secure, and fit for purpose.
You will work with internal stakeholders to understand what new data dimensions, reporting and insights are required, maintain data pipeline and integrity and monitoring the health of the platform. There are some key strategic projects currently in flight that need to be delivered, including new platform and tech selection, and the design and implementation of the Data Engineering strategy.

About you
With strong people leadership and delivery skills, you have experience coaching, directing, and guiding a team to get the best results. Whilst this role isn’t on the tools, you’ll have the strategic thinking and technical nous for robust architecture discussions, with the ability to anticipate the needs of the business, thinking pragmatically about impact and flow on.
Ideally, you’ve built something from scratch, having come from an organisation that has had significant growth across their Data environment. You’ll be comfortable with ambiguity, a self-starter with initiative but you also take a considered approach.
Technically, you’ll bring to the role.
- Strong understanding of the cloud, ideally Azure
- Understand large scale distributed ETL systems in market
- Depth of expertise across Data Warehouse, Analytics, ML and AI technologies and platforms
