Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities.
Who we are looking for
We are currently seeking a safety-conscious and skilled Refrigeration Technician to maintain and repair all aspects of the Surface Maintenance areas at our Telfer Operation.
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this opportunity will see you play a key part in the day to day operation and maintenance of shutdowns and also in the planning, organisation and execution of winter maintenance activities.
You will be joining a close-knit team with an excellent work culture and will be presented with opportunities for self-development.
Other key deliverables of this role include:
- Maintaining water treatment systems for cooling towers and carrier chillers
- Carrying out daily preventative maintenance and attending to breakdowns in a safe, reliable and cost-effective manner
- Supervising contractors for major maintenance work during mill shutdowns
To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrable experience working with Carrier chillers. You will also demonstrate good understanding in troubleshooting and repairing package units, refrigerated air dryers, ice machines and split system air conditioners. Your excellent interpersonal skills will see you maintain good customer service relationships with other onsite departments and contractors.
In addition to the above key skills, you will have the below qualifications/licence:
- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Restricted WA Electrical Licence
- Forklift and Confined Space ticket (desirable)
Experience in the mining, resources or large infrastructure/commercial industries will be highly beneficial. Exposure to DCS systems will be desirable, but not essential. You will be competent in the use of MS Office programs and SAP experience will be an advantage.
Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster (day shift only).
