Where Cloud lives and AI thrives

As a Data Centre Technician, you will support the Hyperscale Facility Management team in the day-to-day operation of the data centre, delivering high-quality electrical and mechanical maintenance while maintaining a strong focus on safety, uptime, and customer service.

Working within a 24/7 operational environment, you will play a key role in ensuring all critical infrastructure systems are maintained to the highest standards and perform reliably.

What you will do:

  • Assess and manage risks across OH&S, security, and critical facility systems, ensuring operations remain within the approved NEXTDC risk profile
  • Apply the NEXTDC Risk Management Framework to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks, feeding insights back to Engineering to improve design and operations
  • Ensure best-practice installation of customer infrastructure, including power monitoring, rack security, and environmental controls
  • Monitor and diagnose system performance via BMS and related platforms, performing fault finding to minimise MTTR
  • Support continuous improvement of data hall monitoring (temperature, humidity, alarms, power) alongside Facility Management
  • Follow all established frameworks, policies, and procedures for safe and compliant facility operations
  • Promote and support training to ensure compliance with relevant OH&S legislation and operational standards
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of critical systems to act as a technical point of reference
  • Assist with customer equipment handling, deliveries, and assembly as required
  • Produce operational reports with recommendations to improve performance and reliability
  • Participate in team activities and ongoing professional development
  • Engage in regular development discussions aligned with company competency frameworks
  • Participate in a rotating on-call roster to support 24/7 operations
  • Support additional tasks as directed by the Facility or Services Manager

What will you need:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively
  • Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of data centre operations, including rack management, IT installations, cooling, and power systems
  • Good knowledge of structured cabling, cable management, and quality standards
  • Willingness to build expertise in high-density power and advanced cooling technologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with exposure to BMS and other service platforms desirable
  • Relevant electrical or telecommunications qualifications (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within a data centre or colocation environment (supporting ~2.5MW+ critical IT load in a Tier III or equivalent facility)
  • NV1 Security Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain)
  • Recognised qualifications and hands-on experience in Electrical and/or Telecommunications disciplines
  • Certificate III in Telecommunications (or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to mentor and support the development of junior team members
  • Seize this exciting opportunity to join one of Australia’s fastest growing companies and play a key contributing role in the future of AI and the digital economy
  • Join an inclusive, diverse and values-driven working culture
  • Great opportunities to progress within our company (grow as we grow)

Our mission is to continue building a diverse and inclusive workforce which represents the communities in which we operate.
