Our Safety & Compliance Officers

Working as part of a large on-roads operations unit, our Safety and Compliance Officers are at the frontline in keeping our roads safe by monitoring heavy vehicles, working with industry and applying the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).

Your role will include:

  • Providing advice, education and guidance in the awareness of road safety for heavy vehicles in the community.
  • Undertaking compliance and enforcement activities including checking the compliance of heavy vehicles, drivers and operators in line with the requirements of the HVNL.
  • Working cohesively as a team to ensure we deliver activities in accordance with relevant road transport laws, regulations and process.

In Northern Victoria, our Safety and Compliance officers engage in On Road Enforcement (ORE) activities and over-dimensional load escorting. Flexibility with working hours is essential, with the need to work outside of normal office hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays. Travel interstate and intrastate is required on occasion, including overnight stays.

About you

As a Safety and Compliance Officer you will have:

  • A valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence
  • Flexibility to work varying shift times, public holidays and weekends, and undertake travel
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering a high standard of customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills where you can foster effective working relationships both internal and external
  • Great written communication and record maintenance skills
  • Ability to interpret law and experience in working with a range of policies and procedures
  • Established computer skills; experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • High level of ethics and a pragmatic approach; familiar with exercising professional judgement and providing effective conflict management
  • Growth mindset and team player attitude
  • A passion for road safety

We offer

We are currently offering permanent, full-time positions in Shepparton and Bendigo , commencing 11 May 2026.
