We’re looking for a collaborative, engaging and experienced HSE Lead to front our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team based in Laverton North at our Major Hazard (MHF) Manufacturing plant, reporting to the Pipe Road Manufacturing Manager. With support from our Regional ANZ HSE Team.

You’ll be engaging regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that collaborative HSE strategies are implemented and maintained to influence, inspire and motivate our employees and contractors to execute our strategy as well as acting as the subject matter expert within the team. As a natural leader you will show the way and continue the value and culture journey for the Pipe Road HSE department and provide direction, support, coaching and mentoring on process safety and environmental stewardship.

What will you be doing?

• Providing coaching and mentoring to the Pipe Road Leadership team to facilitate effective HSE management.
• Developing and coordinating the execution of the Pipe Road HSE strategy in consultation with the Pipe Road Leadership Team and lead them on the HSE growth and continuous improvement journey.
• Collaborating with customers and stakeholders on effective management systems to ensure Occupational Health & Safety, Process Safety, environmental stewardship and continuous improvement occurs.
• Support the coordination of Pipe Road IR/UIR incident reporting, Management of Change and investigation processes.
• Facilitate Pipe Road coordination of the HSE Programs such as: EPA and MHF License Compliance, Permit to Work system, 5S, take 5, JSA, Safety Tour, Toolbox Meeting, HAZOP, PSM, Waste Management, safety check lists, LOTO, risk assessment, incident and accident investigation
• Participating in the relationship with HSE technical, government, professional and regulatory bodies/organization in the region and participates at the global level,ensuring Nufarm interests are represented.
• Ensuring submission of the Pipe Road annual corporate Sustainability Reports and regulatory reporting requirements across Nufarm’s locations.
• Providing effective leadership and subject matter expertise in Occupational Health & Safety, Process Safety and Environmental continuous improvement and sharing of best practices at Pipe Road.
• Provide guidance, leadership and development to your team through individual staff training and competency assessment plans.
• Support the wider safety team in securing zero incident/injuries on site inclusive of incident investigation

What do you bring?

Ideally you will be a tertiary qualified highly experienced safety expert who brings demonstrated experience operating at a regional level in complex, manufacturing facilities and Major Hazard environments meeting Worksafe obligations and proven experience as a great people leader of diverse subject matter experts. You bring an in-depth understanding of OHS, Hazardous Substances, Dangerous goods, Occupational Hygiene, Emergency Response & Management, Incident Investigations, Risk Management and Injury Management.

Proactive and results driven, you’re a natural communicator who brings the ability to guide and influence a diverse group of stakeholders. You’re a proven environmental and safety leader who is passionate about driving a zero-harm safety culture.
