Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road chemical manufacturing facility, we’re looking to engage a Production Engineer to join our Formulations Manufacturing group. In this role, you’ll be facilitating the completion of the weekly production and on-line maintenance schedules as well as coordinating day-to-day aspects of the operation of the plant. You’ll work closely with the Maintenance, Quality, Production Planning team, Raw Materials and Production Supervisors to micro-schedule plant availability, develop decontamination plans, ensure continuity of production and adherence to the maintenance execution plan.
You’ll be engaging daily with production staff to troubleshoot issues, review processes and procedures and to identify and implement continuous improvement activities.

How You’ll Help Us Grow
- Focal point for day-to-day operation of the Formulations Manufacturing group via relationships with Maintenance, Quality, Raw Materials and Production Planning teams.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC), New Product Introduction (NPI), Unusual Incident Report (Unusual Incident Report) or IR (Injury Report) processes.
- Carry out incident investigation to determine appropriate corrective actions in collaboration with Process Engineers using appropriate tools (5 WHY/RCA/ICAM etc.)
- Management of department maintenance priorities, planning, scheduling and execution in collaboration with Maintenance Leaders and Shift Supervisors/Permit writers.
- Management of review and update schedule of department Standard Operation Procedures.
- Correlation of historical Performance Information for analysis and reporting through purpose built tools.
- Maintaining production process knowledge and history through processes and systems as to support continuous improvement across the department.
- Implement and sustain processes to be followed by operations group to ensure quality standards are met (5S, TPM, housekeeping, daily checklists etc.)
- Standardization of Best Demonstrated Practice (BDP), use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and "Lean Tools" in area
- Coordinate, track and investigate deviations to plan in consumables consumption for areas of the department (MUV)
- Gather data and build reports to support the efficient and effective management of area performance – area specific KPI metrics.
Could This Be You?
You’re a qualified Engineer (Chemical/Process/Mechanical) with past technical experience, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment or similar role in the food, Pharma or petrochemical industry. Preferably you also bring an understanding of Management of Change (MOC) processes, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools, Maintenance Management software (SAP or MEX), advanced MS Office skills and an awareness of the regulatory requirements associated with Major Hazard Facilities.
Engaging and proactive, you have excellent communication skills that you can leverage to engage teams and drive collaboration.
You’re passionate about continuous improvement and can utilise the knowledge base and expertise of the site to drive change to ensure we remain competitive as a manufacturing plant.
