Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road major hazard manufacturing facility (MHF), we are looking to engage an experienced and results oriented Production Engineer to join the 2,4 D Synthesis team. Within the role you will be facilitating the completion of the weekly production and on-line maintenance schedules. You’ll work closely with maintenance planning and Shift Managers to micro-schedule plant availability, develop decontamination plans, permit to work resourcing and ensuring that return to service checks are completed to standard.
You’ll be engaging daily with production to troubleshoot issues, review processes and procedures and to identify and implement continuous improvement activities.

Be part of building a better Nufarm
- Focal point for day-to-day operation of the Synthesis Manufacturing group via relationships with Maintenance, Quality, Raw Materials and Production Planning teams.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC), and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes to ensure sustainable and accurate change management outcomes for the operations group.
- Carry out incident investigation to determine appropriate corrective actions in collaboration with Process Engineers using appropriate tools (5 WHY/RCA/ICAM etc.)
- Management of department maintenance priorities, planning, scheduling and execution in collaboration with Maintenance Leaders and Shift Supervisors/Permit writers.
- Management of review and update schedule of department Standard Operation Procedures.
- Correlation of historical Performance Information for analysis and reporting through purpose built tools.
- Maintaining production process knowledge and history through processes and systems as to support continuous improvement across the department.
- Implement and sustain processes to be followed by operations group to ensure quality standards are met (5S, TPM, housekeeping, daily checklists etc.)
- Standardization of Best Demonstrated Practice (BDP), use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and "Lean Tools" in area
- Coordinate, track and investigate deviations to plan in consumables consumption for areas of the department (MUV)
- Gather data and build reports to support the efficient and effective management of area performance – area specific KPI metrics.
What do you bring?
You’re a qualified Chemical Engineer with significant, technical Production Engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing environment. Preferably you bring an understanding of Management of Change (MOC) processes, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation and an awareness of the regulatory requirements associated with Major Hazard Facilities.
Engaging and proactive, you have excellent communication and technical skills. You’re passionate about continuous improvement, collaboration and engaging with internal teams to drive results.
