Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road manufacturing facility, we are looking to engage an experienced and results-driven Senior Environmental Specialist to join our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Team. Within your role you will be responsible for embedding sustainable values within the Nufarm business and continuously striving for and driving continuous improvement in the environmental space. The role has a strong focus on site engagement, improving and sustaining environmental performance, waste minimisation and disposal strategies, , regulatory engagement, and on the enhancement and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that are aligned with ISO 14001.

• Deliver high-quality support and guidance to all operational areas to achieve the site’s HSE goals and objectives, as well as the General Environmental Duty.
• Act as the Technical Team Leader for Environmental Specialists.
• Owns, deploys and advances the HSE Management System, ensuring robust risk management, compliance, and proactive risk mitigation.
• Collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve compliance, and to manage risk so far as is reasonably practicable.
• Provide effective leadership and subject matter expertise in Environmental management and continual improvement.
• Coach, mentor and empower others in HSE knowledge and behaviours.
• Represent Nufarm in liaisons with external stakeholders relevant to Environmental Management, including regulatory bodies, auditors, and industry partners.
• Maintain up to date knowledge on the regulatory and Nufarm corporate HSE landscape.
• Influences cultural change, embedding human factors and behavioural principles into everyday operations.
• Oversee the relevant site’s Licences to Operate.
• Monitor and report site’s HSE KPIs and performance standards.
• Lead, participate and engage in root cause investigations.
• Lead, participate and engage in audits, self-assessments.
• Provide support or advice to Nufarm Australia New Zealand teams, where required.

Could This Be You?

We are looking for a knowledgeable and driven Senior Environmental Specialist with experience within a similar MHF/High Hazard Facility. As our ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and experience in development and implementation of ISO 14001. You will use this experience to assist our manufacturing facilities in ISO14001 certification.

You are a resilient, effective communicator with the ability to guide and influence a diverse group of stakeholders on environmental issues within a busy chemical manufacturing or process industry environment.
