We’re looking for a collaborative and engaging experienced Senior HSE Specialist to join our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team based in Laverton North at our Major Hazard (MHF) Manufacturing plant. You will be responsible for safeguarding people, processes, and compliance across the site.

You’ll be engaging regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that collaborative HSE strategies are implemented and maintained to influence, inspire and motivate our employees and contractors. As the Senior HSE Specialist you will act as a technical informal team leader to the site HSE Specialists, providing day-to-day guidance, direction, and functional supervision and be the expert in your field.

How You’ll Help Us Grow

Deliver high-quality support and guidance to all operational areas to achieve the site’s HSE goals and objectives.
Owns, deploys and advances the HSE Management System, ensuring robust risk management, compliance, and proactive risk mitigation.
Collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve compliance, and to manage risk so far as is reasonably practicable.
Provide effective leadership and subject matter expertise in Occupational Health and Safety management and continual improvement.
Coach, mentor and empower others in HSE knowledge and behaviours.
Represent Nufarm in liaisons with external stakeholders relevant to Occupational Health and Safety, including regulatory bodies, auditors, and industry partners.
Maintain up to date knowledge on the regulatory and Nufarm corporate HSE landscape.
Influences cultural change, embedding human factors and behavioural safety principles into everyday operations.
Oversee the relevant site’s Licences to Operate, including Safety Case aspects.
Support the site’s Emergency Planning Committee and relevant emergency preparedness activities.
Provide direction to the HSE Team on Return To Work & injury management.
Monitor and report site’s HSE KPIs and performance standards.
Lead, participate and engage in audits, self-assessments and root cause investigations
Provide support or advice to Nufarm New Zealand teams, where required.

Could This Be You?

Ideally you will be a tertiary qualified highly experienced safety expert who brings demonstrated experience operating in complex, manufacturing facilities and Major Hazard environments meeting Worksafe obligations. You bring an in-depth understanding of OHS, Hazardous Substances, Occupational Hygiene, Emergency Response & Management, Incident Investigations, Risk Management and Injury Management.

Proactive and results driven, you’re a natural communicator who brings the ability to guide and influence a diverse group of stakeholders. You’re a proven environmental and safety leader who is passionate about driving a zero-harm safety culture.
