OZ Minerals is a modern mining company embarking on an ambitious project to develop one of the world's largest off-grid hybrid power solutions with approximately 80% renewables penetration.
The West Musgrave project is a greenfield initiative that has the potential to revolutionise the mining industry by combining the latest in renewable energy technology with cutting-edge mining practices. To make this project a reality, we are looking for a talented Senior Advisor to collaborate and safely integrate the Independent Power Producer (IPP) and hybrid power solution into the West Musgrave project.

The Details
Reporting to the Package Manager - Power, you will directly contribute to the successful development of the $1.7B West Musgrave project by working safely and collaboratively with our Independent Power Provider (IPP) to deliver one of the world's largest off-grid hybrid power solutions.
Once West Musgrave becomes an operational mine, you will also establish the Operational Readiness components for power and then take the lead on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contract management and IPP relations.
As a Power Package representative on site, you will act as a single point of contact between the IPP and OZ Minerals team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the IPP Integration Plan to support the safe and on-time delivery of ~50MW thermal, ~50MW battery storage, ~60MW solar PV and ~90MW wind.
- Support the development of (and then implement) the right safety culture that ensures zero harm.
- Establish the on-site cadences and ways of working between the OZ Minerals off-site team, on-site teams and IPP.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to coordinate the integration of the Power Package with other packages across West Musgrave.
- Manage relationships with contractors and other stakeholders, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and procurement activities, and contribute to the business planning process.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in power generation and renewable energy sources, and actively seek out opportunities to incorporate these into the construction project.
- Ensure compliance to the process and performance standards of OZ Minerals, across the complete power team.
- Develop and establish the fundamental Operational Readiness components for the power package.
- Develop the tools, systems and processes required to contract manage the PPA and IPP for when the project transitions into the operational phase.
Applicant Requirements
- A curious and inquisitive mindset, with a strong interest in power generation and renewable energy sources, particularly wind, solar and battery storage.
- A technical operations background with a passion to develop into commercial and strategic stakeholder management.
- An honest and trustworthy professional, capable of developing relationships at all levels and keeping stakeholders accountable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment with the confidence to engage and lead conversations.
- Can quickly identify threats or opportunities, develop strategies to mitigate or capitalise on these and communicate the outcomes across the business.
- Strong Project Management qualities such as organisational and time management, the ability to multi-task, prioritise responsibilities and meet deadlines for complex projects.
- Tertiary education in Engineering and technical experience working in power generation within an industrial setting.
