West Musgrave will be one of the world’s largest, lowest cost, lowest emissions copper-nickel projects, built and operated by OZ Minerals, a modern mining company.

Our West Musgrave nickel-copper project is located on Ngaanyatjarra country, in the Musgrave Province of Central Western Australia, and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit.

West Musgrave, which has a 26-year mine life, will be an owner-operator mining operation and in addition to being powered by ~80 per cent renewable energy, the Project scope includes a pathway to net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2038.

The Project will feature an Autonomous Haulage System and remote operations from day one and our workforce will be a flexible, technology enabled team supported by remote operations to improve safety outcomes and maximise opportunities for flexible working and diverse participation.

About The Role

Roster: 5:2 Monday to Friday

Reporting to: Manager – Health, Safety, People Community and Training

Contract Type: Permanent full-time

Key Responsibilities

The Superintendent Learning and Training will support the Asset capability required to deliver the West Musgrave project through the Construction phases in support of OZ Minerals' growth strategy. Specifically, this includes:

  • Leading the training strategy across the West Musgrave asset.
  • Developing the training and governance processes to achieve legislative and site-specific requirements.
  • Overseeing the design and development of training packages.
  • Developing and implementing training needs analysis (TNA’s) across all levels of the asset.
  • Managing, analysing and reporting on training compliance.
  • Partnering with functions to design and build role competency frameworks in alignment with the work.
  • Ensure contract partners are aware of OZ Minerals operational requirements and processes, assisting with the aim of achieving and exceeding compliance.

Applicant Requirements

This role requires a self-motivated, hands on and values-based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills, experience, and personal attributes including:

  • Demonstrated experience in creating and establishing training programs in mining or other high-risk industries.
  • A strong knowledge of training related legislative requirements.
  • A communicator with solid experience in promoting and strengthening the organisation's culture.
  • An honest and trustworthy professional, capable of delivering difficult messages during times of change.
  • Can quickly identify threats or opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate or capitalise on these.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to multi-task, prioritise responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to influence and mentor at all levels and develop partnering relationships.
  • Experience partnering with RTO’s to achieve competency and compliance requirements for the asset
  • Cert IV in training & assessment qualified or a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Learning and Training field
