Your New Role:

This newly created permanent role is responsible for the support and maintenance of geological databases. Projects include the migration of drill hole data into an updated database system, and the importation of geometallurgical data into a relational database. Ongoing tasks would include implementing functionality improvements and providing user support.

Location: Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)

Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off to be worked onsite plus 4 days on and 3 days off to be remote or WFH.

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

How you will create impact:

  • Maintain the integrity of geological data.
  • Improve data accessibility for users, both by improving data visualisation and reporting tools, and by enabling the capture of data that is not currently in a relational database.
  • Support the geology team to ensure all databases are fit for purpose and secure.
  • Train and mentor geologists in basic database administration.
  • Assist in maintenance of existing safe working practices and procedures, and establishment of any new or additional process documentation.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Geology and/or Information Technology
  • Highly developed SQL Server and VBA skills
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a database administration role
  • Experience with Micromine Geobank or a similar geological database system
  • MS Access database experience
  • Demonstrate proactive and timely project management
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers licence (manual)
  • Current National Police check (NPC)

The following qualifications, accreditations, and licenses are desirable for this role:

  • Trained/Certified in SQL Server & Visual Basic
