Your New Role:
As the Ventilation Engineer you will be responsible for assisting with the underground and surface ventilation monitoring, equipment maintenance and systems to meet statutory requirements. Regular inspection, monitoring and testing of underground workplaces to ensure adequate ventilation flows and atmospheric contaminants are as low as can be reasonably achieved.
Location: Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off

How you will create impact:
- Communicate to Mine Operations team on equipment restrictions due to reduced ventilation capacity during unplanned downtime and planned maintenance
- Development, maintenance, coordination and issuing ventilation, egress, and firing plans.
- Support and monitor the effective use of the Ventilation on Demand (VoD) system
- Control and monitor all underground ventilation systems to ensure ventilation standards and regulations are achieved.
- Management of the contractors undertaking the ventilation works so they meet safety, cost and improvement targets.
- Conduct documented underground environmental hygiene checks and surveys for temperature, gas, dust, air flows, and other contaminants.
- Implement corrective action plans in consultation with Technical Services and Mine Operations teams
- Provide updates to personnel in underground PSI’s on ventilation hazards and changes to the system
- Time in the field to ensure ventilation activities are achieved in a safe and effective manner
- Completion of at least 2 x CCV’s and 2 x task observations each month
- Hazard identification, rectification and reporting inline with site requirements
What you’ll need to succeed:
- At least 2 years’ experience working in an underground metalliferous mining
- Understanding of mine ventilation systems
- Motivated and self-directed
- Ability to work in high pressure and dynamic environments
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
- Ability to work independently in office and underground
- MS Office, Ventsim and Deswik suite software experience
