An opportunity has presented itself for a hands-on, safety-focused Wagon Maintainer to join our team in Townsville.
What You’ll Do
Hands-on wagon maintenance supporting safe and reliable rail operations.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled wagon maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Respond to breakdowns, faults, and emergency recovery work
- Carry out heating, cutting and welding activities
- Conduct mechanical and electrical fault-finding and testing
- Operate mobile plant, lifting equipment and vehicles
- Fabricate and assemble components for repair or modification
- Complete unit train, roll-by, and FX inspections as required
- Liaise with planners, contractors and operators to coordinate wagon movements
- Support locomotive provisioning activities
What You’ll Bring
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Forklift/MR Licence (advantageous)
- Basic computer skills
- Training provided – bring a positive attitude, we’ll teach the rest.
- Heavy industry experience (e.g. boilermaker) is a plus – but not required.
