What You’ll Do
You’ll provide engineering expertise to support the safe, reliable and cost-effective maintenance and delivery of infrastructure assets across Pacific National’s facilities.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will:
- Provide engineering support for infrastructure assets and maintenance activities across a diverse portfolio, including pavements, civil structures, buildings, electrical systems, water and waste infrastructure, and lifting equipment.
- Support the development and delivery of maintenance schedules, budgets, resource plans and technical requirements to achieve safe, timely and cost-effective outcomes.
- Review engineering designs, specifications, drawings and work processes to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Support testing, commissioning, defect rectification and root cause investigations to improve asset reliability and performance.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams, contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities, resolve technical issues and monitor contractor performance.
- Contribute to asset management plans, technical maintenance plans, business cases and tender documentation, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and deliver value.
- Use asset management systems such as Maximo to support maintenance planning, asset compliance and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in civil, mechanical, electrical or a related discipline.
- Two to five years of on-site infrastructure or construction engineering delivery experience.
- Registered engineering status, or a willingness and ability to obtain registration within 12 months.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, rail safety requirements, risk management frameworks and relevant Australian Standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, operational teams and external stakeholders.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering, with the ability to identify risks, investigate issues and deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes.
- Familiarity with project management tools, Microsoft Office and asset management systems such as Maximo, or the ability to become proficient in Maximo within three months.
- A current driver’s licence, General Construction Induction Card (White Card), and Safety Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) accreditation, or the ability to obtain SARC within one month of commencement.
Applicants must be willing and able to undertake regular interstate travel across Pacific National's operational network, including Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. Travel is an essential requirement of the role to support project delivery and may involve extended periods away from the employee's usual place of work or residence.
