Join Pacific National – Australia’s largest private rail freight operator
Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We haul coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep Australia moving.
An opportunity has presented itself for an Infrastructure Project Manager to join our team in Brisbane, leading the delivery of infrastructure projects across our national network.
What You’ll Do
You’ll manage infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Reporting to the Project Lead, you will:
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedules, budgets, tenders, resources and delivery milestones.
- Oversee multiple projects and work packages concurrently, monitoring progress against project baselines and addressing risks or delays to keep delivery on track.
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams across a range of infrastructure projects, including civil works, pavements, buildings, electrical systems and facilities.
- Maintain a strong on-site presence at key planning and delivery milestones to monitor progress, resolve issues, manage defects and ensure quality standards are met.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, expenditure approvals and contract performance, identifying cost variances and implementing corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
- Identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies and escalating critical issues with clear recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, regulatory bodies and community representatives through clear communication and proactive engagement.
- Ensure project activities comply with relevant legislation, Australian Standards, safety requirements and quality management processes.
- Monitor contractor and supplier performance, address non-conformances and identify opportunities to improve delivery outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and operational teams to support successful project completion and integration into ongoing operations.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant Australian project management qualifications, such as CPPM or PMP.
- A degree in engineering, project management or construction management, or relevant trade qualifications in rail or construction, which would be highly regarded.
