About the role
Based at our Taree depot, you will be taking charge and driving freight trains up to lengths of 1800 metre and weighing up to 6,000 tonnes, transporting various types of freight to locations Newcastle, Sydney or Brisbane.
Employees will have a forecast working roster issued approximately 9 days in advance, however flexibility is required from crews to support operational changes such as late running trains and service disruptions.
At Taree you will be rostered for barracks working only.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provisioning and preparing locomotives for train operations including checking and testing control systems as well as preparing relevant compliance documentation.
- Performing and maintaining locomotive train operations in accordance with specifications and procedures.
- Shunting
- Keeping up to date with relevant safe working procedures.
- Keeping up to date with track access providers safe working requirements & procedures.
- Required to drive motor vehicles to provide relief to other crews and to go to or from barracks locations.
About you
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:
- Previous experience working as a qualified locomotive driver
- Certificate IV in Train Driving
- A current full driver’s license (C class)
- A basic level of computer literacy
- A commitment to safety, displayed through your proven track record of safe working in the rail industry
- A commitment to live our PNA – Own It, make it Simple, Share More, Kindness, Gratitude and Curiosity
- Available to work across a 24/7 roster, including barracks working as required.
