About the role
As a Terminal Operator based in our Brisbane Freight Terminal, you will play a key role in ensuring the on-time departure of trains and efficient turnaround times of trucks from the terminal.
Terminal Operators are responsibilities range across the coordination, planning, safe and efficient assembly and dismantling, loading and unloading trains within the terminal or sidings in accordance with safe-working and operations procedures. They are also responsible for processing freight and operating documentation, undertaking train examination and brake testing activities and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves and others within the workplace.
Key responsibilities include:
- Internal Transfer Vehicle operation
- Loading & unloading of train services
- Shunting and train examination duties associated with arrival, departure, marshalling and preparation of trains.
- Inspection of trains and equipment during train operations.
- Ensure security and general housekeeping is maintained throughout the area of responsibility.
- Ensure Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards and obligations are satisfied
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong safety background and possess:
- Shunt/Marshalling qualified (preferred)
- Qualified in Train Examination (highly desirable)
- A strong focus on customer service and excellent communication skills.
- Strong commitment to enforcing a safety culture.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 shift work environment with flexibility and commitment.
- A current motor vehicle license and strong mechanical aptitude.
- Rail experience and/or appropriate heavy industry experience
- Reach Stacker Qualification (Highly desirable)
