About the role
We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Manager with deep technology knowledge, commercial insight, communication skills, and creative problem-solving skills to support a large-scale legacy modernisation program.
Key accountabilities include:
- Reporting to the CIO, in charge of the company’s infrastructure management consisting of 2 data centres, rapidly growing Cloud environment, 90 locations in Australia and more than 3500 Citrix end-points
- P&L responsibility of $12M, managing a largely in-house team of Unix, Wintel admins, DBAs, EUC engineers and network techs (SDWAN)
- Manage transition of enterprise workloads from legacy on-premise to cloud architectures
- Maintain and implement standards and operating procedures with strong focus on change control in a highly resilient 24x7 business environment
- Manage significant multi-million-dollar vendor contracts
- Responsible for Disaster Recovery practices and procedures
About you
You are an experienced IT Infrastructure Manager with strong technical background and the ability to introduce innovation in an existing legacy stack. You will have at least 10 years’ experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments, including on-premise and cloud. Your deep experience will be matched by your curiosity to learn about the rail industry and address its challenges with innovative technology solutions.
Experience, skills, and knowledge to be successful in this role:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- Excellent communication skills are required to work with stakeholders, team members, and customers to manage expectations, communicate technical information in non-technical language, and collaborate effectively
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic roadmaps for infrastructure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including Agile and Scrum
- Strong in ITIL framework and IT service management principles
- Experience in leading and mentoring a team of technical support specialists to ensure that service level agreements are being met
- Strong understanding of IT budgets and system lifecycle costs and ability to build business cases
