The Opportunity
The role of Terminal Planner develops and monitors the operations plan and performs critical functions in the key operational areas of the Pacific National Perth Terminal, developing the operational plan to ensure the terminal infrastructure and assets (predominantly track, tarmac and infrastructure) are utilised in a manner that delivers superior service and performance. This role will extend to safe and effective train planning through to the safe delivery of the operational plan, ensuring terminal resources and infrastructure are utilised in a manner that delivers superior service and performance at the lowest unit cost.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating terminal related tasks associated with the train loading, scheduling, planning and rolling stock deployment processes
- Effectively liaising with customers and potential clients in order to maintain strong, credible and positive relationships conducive to maximising business growth potential
- All freight movements occur efficiently while delivering high-quality customer service
- All assets and resources are utilised to their optimum level.
- Develop and implement solutions which meet and exceed the needs and expectations of a wide range of stakeholders (customers, maintenance, line haul, track access providers and terminal operations).
- Please note that this role requires shift work
About you
To be successful in this role you will have relevant terminal and logistics experience and a demonstrated track record in planning, setting and achieving work objectives.
With a flexible approach, you will be able to modify and adapt plans as is often required in this complex and dynamic environment. You have strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
In addition, you will possess:
- Experience working in Supply Chain, Transport, Rail or other relevant industry
- Experience with transport planning or similar
- Excellent customer service experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- A real go getter with a can do attitude
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Advanced Intermediate computer / Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to perform and achieve outcomes during high pressure situations
- Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Computer and systems proficiency
